Be clear about what you remember and what you are unsure about. There is no need to fill in gaps or guess. If you have witness names and contact information, bring those as well.

Gather claim numbers, letters, emails and any documents an insurance company has asked you to sign. Note the names and contact information of people who have contacted you about the collision. Tell the lawyer if you have already made a statement, received an offer or signed a document.
4. Information about treatment and daily life
Bring a list of providers you have seen, appointment dates you remember and bills or records already in your possession. You do not need to obtain your entire medical file before the first call. Explain how the accident has affected your routines, work and family responsibilities in your own words.
5. Work and expense information
If you missed work, note the dates and whether you lost pay. Bring any related records you already have. Receipts for expenses connected with the accident can also help organize the discussion. The lawyer can explain which information is relevant to evaluating your situation.
6. Your questions
Write down the questions you do not want to forget. You may want to ask who will handle your case, how communication works, what information is needed next and what a proposed fee agreement covers. A consultation is also your opportunity to understand the working relationship.
